Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction NINETEENTH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART, which included the work Daydream by Léon Herbo. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,485.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Léon Herbo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 137,500.00 (€ 119,027.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion NINETEENTH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Daydream von Léon Herbo zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 7.637,50 (€ 12.485,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Léon Herbo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 119.027,01).
