Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Belgian the Wedding Feast by Léon Herbo was sold in the European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 59,084.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Léon Herbo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge, which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 137,500.00 (€ 119,027.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Belgian the Wedding Feast von Léon Herbo wurde im November 2016 in der Auktion European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 59.084,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Léon Herbo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für USD 137.500,00 (€ 119.027,01) versteigert wurde.
