Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Les Cerises by Léon Herbo was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2006. The price achieved of GBP 26,400.00 (€ 38,200.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 22,000.00 – 28,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Léon Herbo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge, which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 137,500.00 (€ 119,027.01).

Die Arbeit Les Cerises von Léon Herbo kam im Juni 2006 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 26.400,00 (€ 38.200,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 22.000,00 – 28.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Léon Herbo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für USD 137.500,00 (€ 119.027,01) versteigert wurde.
