The work Belgian Young Girl With Blue Ribbon by Léon Herbo was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,886.63), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Herbo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 137,500.00 (€ 119,027.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Belgian Young Girl With Blue Ribbon von Léon Herbo wurde im Februar 2019 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 9.886,63) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Léon Herbo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of an Art Connoisseur, possibly Ira Aldridge im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 119.027,01).
