Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Lee Bontecou could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints & Multiples auction, this work without title changed hands for USD 630.00 (€ 536.49) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Bontecou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Bontecou konnte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wechselte diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 630,00 (€ 536,49) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Bontecou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.690.000,00 (€ 8.156.560,92).
