Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cynthia Antonio, Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Maria, Australia, 1990 by Kurt Markus was sold in the The Feminine Ideal: An Important Private Collection of Photographs auction at Christies in New York in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,361.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kurt Markus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ranch, Paisley, Oregon, 1981, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,457.93).
