Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Meido no hikyaku no Umekawa (The heroine Umekawa in Meido no hikyaku by Chikamatsu Monzaemon), from Dai Chikamatsu zenshu furoku mokuhan (Collection of the complete works of Chikamatsu, an appendix in woodcut) by Kitano Tsunetomi was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 700.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitano Tsunetomi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Heron Maiden (Sagi Musume) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Meido no hikyaku no Umekawa (The heroine Umekawa in Meido no hikyaku by Chikamatsu Monzaemon), from Dai Chikamatsu zenshu furoku mokuhan (Collection of the complete works of Chikamatsu, an appendix in woodcut) von Kitano Tsunetomi im März 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 312,50 (€ 197,72) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitano Tsunetomi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Heron Maiden (Sagi Musume) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.549,28).
