On the occasion of the 200th birthday of Chikamatsu Monzaemon, the series of theatre works were published in 15 volumes from 1922 to 1925. A supplement was simultaneously published with 16 woodcut prints by various artists illustrating scenes from famous plays. Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2019 Lempertz in Cologne held the auction Japanische Kunst (Kunstgewerbe, Malerei, Holzschnitte), which included the work Dai ôban. Series: Dai Chikamatsu zenshû - Furoku mokuhan by Kitano Tsunetomi. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,240.00 24% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitano Tsunetomi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Heron Maiden (Sagi Musume) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2019 führte Lempertz in Köln die Auktion Japanische Kunst (Kunstgewerbe, Malerei, Holzschnitte) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dai ôban. Series: Dai Chikamatsu zenshû - Furoku mokuhan von Kitano Tsunetomi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.240,00 und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitano Tsunetomi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Heron Maiden (Sagi Musume) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.549,28).
