Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ripe Fruit by Kenneth Southworth Davies was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,798.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kenneth Southworth Davies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clapboards & Shadows in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 237,500.00 (€ 216,026.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ripe Fruit von Kenneth Southworth Davies im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.798,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kenneth Southworth Davies erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clapboards & Shadows im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 237.500,00 (€ 216.026,92).
