In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art Online, which included the work A Different Journey by Kazuya Sakai. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,747.25), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Kazuya Sakai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sky of Texas in September last year with an auction result of USD 107,100.00 (€ 109,475.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Different Journey von Kazuya Sakai zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 14.747,25) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kazuya Sakai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sky of Texas im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 107.100,00 (€ 109.475,62).
