Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The actors Matsumoto Koshiro III as Gokuin Sen'emon, Ichikawa Yaozo II as Yasuhira Uemon, Nakamura Sukegoro II as Kaminari Shokuro by Katsukawa Shunshō was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2020. The price achieved of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,266.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsukawa Shunshō achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty writing a letter, ca. 1789-92 in September 2006 with an auction result of USD 72,000.00 (€ 56,751.00).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.266,94) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunshō erzielen.
