Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2019 Christies in London held the auction Art of Japan: Online, which included the work The actor Ichikawa Yaozo II in the role of Sano Genzaemon by Katsukawa Shunshō. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 738.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsukawa Shunshō achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty writing a letter, ca. 1789-92 in September 2006 with an auction result of USD 72,000.00 (€ 56,751.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Art of Japan: Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit The actor Ichikawa Yaozo II in the role of Sano Genzaemon von Katsukawa Shunshō zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 625,00 (€ 738,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunshō erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Beauty writing a letter, ca. 1789-92 im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.000,00 (€ 56.751,00).
