Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A full-length portrait of Iwai Hanshiro IV in a shibaraku role, signed Shunei ga, fine impression and colour, small tear to top left-hand corner, light staining bottem left-hand corner and minor creasing, framed and glazed by Katsukawa Shunei was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,188.87) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Katsukawa Shunei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two Sumo Wrestlers in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,394.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A full-length portrait of Iwai Hanshiro IV in a shibaraku role, signed Shunei ga, fine impression and colour, small tear to top left-hand corner, light staining bottem left-hand corner and minor creasing, framed and glazed von Katsukawa Shunei kam im November 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.188,87) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Two Sumo Wrestlers im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.394,03).
