This artwork by Kati Horna achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2008. In the Latin American Sale Evening Session auction, the work Remedios Varo (wearing a mask made by Leonora Carrington and Kati Horna) sold for USD 15,000.00 (€ 9,640.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Kati Horna; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of Leonora Carrington sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of USD 20,000.00 (€ 12,853.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kati Horna erzielte im Mai 2008 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Latin American Sale Evening Session wurde die Arbeit Remedios Varo (wearing a mask made by Leonora Carrington and Kati Horna) für USD 15.000,00 (€ 9.640,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Kati Horna; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of Leonora Carrington im Mai 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 12.853,47).
