Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three woodblock prints, Taisho by Shiro Kasamatsu was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,386.00 (€ 1,612.64). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shiro Kasamatsu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snow At The Stone Garden (Yuki No Ishiniwa), which sold at auction in November 2019 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,577.66).
