Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Online: Post War & Contemporary Art, which included this untitled work by Kara Walker. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,626.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kara Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Negress Notes in May last year with an auction result of USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open Online: Post War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Kara Walker zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.626,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kara Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Negress Notes im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 529.200,00 (€ 493.150,68).
