Despite a disappointment, a good price for Kano Tessai
In June 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work A Noh Mask Of Okina by Kano Tessai for USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,721.81). This price was achieved in the auction Edo Sparkle and Tokyo SplendorJapanese Art of the Last Three Centuries at Bonhams in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, A Noh Mask Of Okina is the most expensive artwork by Kano Tessai that we have observed at auction so far.
