Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Bamboo Senbai (Tea Scoop) by Kano Tessai was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in June 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 828.75 (€ 699.49). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kano Tessai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Noh Mask Of Okina, which sold at auction in June 2021 for USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,721.81).
