Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Views of Indian Colonial Houses With Figures In The Foreground by Justinian Gantz was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,152.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justinian Gantz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Indian figures and an elephant in a street outside a European house, Madras, which sold at auction in September 2000 for GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,881.47).
