Description
JULIE MEHRETU (B. 1970) Landscape Allegories the complete set of seven etchings with drypoint and aquatint in colours, 2004, on Somerset wove paper, each signed, dated, respectively inscribed (1) through (7) and numbered 28/35 in pencil (there were also seven artist's proofs), printed by Burnet Editions, New York, with their blindstamp, co-published by Ridinghouse Editions, London and The Project Gallery, New York Plate 300 x 395 mm. Sheet 480 x 550 mm. (each)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape Allegories by Julie Mehretu was auctioned at Christies in London in March this year. The price achieved of GBP 18,900.00 (€ 21,502.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julie Mehretu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Ground (Deep Light) in April 2019 with an auction result of HKD 44,209,000.00 (€ 5,032,271.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Landscape Allegories von Julie Mehretu kam im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 18.900,00 (€ 21.502,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julie Mehretu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Ground (Deep Light) im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 44.209.000,00 (€ 5.032.271,67).
