Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sappho by Jules Joseph Lefebvre was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 34,903.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jules Joseph Lefebvre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Morning Glory in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 172,291.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sappho von Jules Joseph Lefebvre kam im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 34.903,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jules Joseph Lefebvre auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Morning Glory im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 172.291,44).
