In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures, which included the work At Sea by Jozef Israëls. The »bidding war« ended at USD 22,680.00 (€ 19,472.83), 51% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jozef Israëls achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch dreams (Dolce Far Niente) in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 293,000.00 (€ 225,592.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures durch, in der auch die Arbeit At Sea von Jozef Israëls zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 22.680,00 (€ 19.472,83) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jozef Israëls erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dutch dreams (Dolce Far Niente) im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 293.000,00 (€ 225.592,85).
