Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mr. and Mrs. William Chase, three-quarter length, in an interior by a window, the latter holding a bird by Joseph Wright of Derby was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 378,000.00 (€ 311,495.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Wright of Derby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Academy By Lamplight in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 7,263,700.00 (€ 8,174,230.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Mr. and Mrs. William Chase, three-quarter length, in an interior by a window, the latter holding a bird von Joseph Wright of Derby wurde im Januar 2021 in der Auktion Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I bei Sothebys in New York versteigert.
