Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve, which included the work A grotto in the Gulf of Salerno, with the figure of Julia by Joseph Wright of Derby. Here, the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 315,000.00 (€ 290,108.68). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Wright of Derby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Academy By Lamplight in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 7,263,700.00 (€ 8,174,230.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve durch, in der auch die Arbeit A grotto in the Gulf of Salerno, with the figure of Julia von Joseph Wright of Derby zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 300.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 315.000,00 (€ 290.108,68) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Wright of Derby erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Academy By Lamplight im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.263.700,00 (€ 8.174.230,35).
