Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a blue coat and golden vest by Joseph Highmore for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,405.56). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Highmore achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three girls, three-quarter-length, in blue, pink and oyster satin dresses, in a landscape in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 44,650.00 (€ 71,127.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2007 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a blue coat and golden vest von Joseph Highmore für USD 1.920,00 (€ 1.405,56) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The House Sale bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Highmore erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Three girls, three-quarter-length, in blue, pink and oyster satin dresses, in a landscape im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 44.650,00 (€ 71.127,05).
