Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A view of Stirling from the river Forth by Joseph Farington was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2002. The price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 1,152.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Farington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The gatehouse on the bridge over the River Severn at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, with the church of St. Leonard beyond in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,585.28).
