Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2004 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Two Views Of Bruges, Belgium by Joseph Farington. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,781.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph Farington have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The gatehouse on the bridge over the River Severn at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, with the church of St. Leonard beyond in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,585.28).
