Auction result well in line with expectations
The work On the Banks of the Tavey by Joseph Farington was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2003. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 460.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Farington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The gatehouse on the bridge over the River Severn at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, with the church of St. Leonard beyond in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,585.28).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 352,50 (€ 460,74) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Farington erzielen.
