Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2018 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Tableaux, Sculptures et Dessins Anciens et du XIXe siècle, which included the work The Apprentice by Joseph Bail. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 8,125.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Bail - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sisters of Charity Saying Grace Before a Meal at the Hospice in Beaune, France, (Le Benedicté), which sold at auction in October 2007 for USD 46,600.00 (€ 32,209.01).
