Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Masters Online, which included the work Polishing Copper by Joseph Bail. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,139.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Bail achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sisters of Charity Saying Grace Before a Meal at the Hospice in Beaune, France, (Le Benedicté) in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 32,209.01).
