Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Interior With Two Women Folding Sheets by Joseph Bail was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,938.00 (€ 4,540.10). Admittedly, works by Joseph Bail have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sisters of Charity Saying Grace Before a Meal at the Hospice in Beaune, France, (Le Benedicté) in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 32,209.01).
