It achieved a price of GBP 16,575.00 (€ 18,890.10), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 38%. Admittedly, works by Josef Scharl have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Der Abend in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 150,000.00.

Die Arbeit Porträt Georg Windfelder von Josef Scharl kam im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 16.575,00 (€ 18.890,10) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 38%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Josef Scharl auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Der Abend im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 150.000,00.
