Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in Cologne held the auction Modern & Contemporary Auction, which included the work Männerbildnis (Portrait of a Man) by Josef Scharl. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 3,276.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Scharl achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Der Abend in June 2018 with an auction result of EUR 150,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in Köln die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Männerbildnis (Portrait of a Man) von Josef Scharl zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 3.276,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Josef Scharl erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Der Abend im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 150.000,00.
