Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nu (Nude Study) by Josef Breitenbach was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,724.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Josef Breitenbach - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Max Ernst And The Seahorse, New York, 1942, which sold at auction in November 2015 for EUR 15,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nu (Nude Study) von Josef Breitenbach wurde im April 2012 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.724,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Josef Breitenbach mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Max Ernst And The Seahorse, New York, 1942 beobachtet, die im November 2015 für EUR 15.000,00 versteigert wurde.
