Auction result misses estimated price range

In July 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Caroline Kennedy, Atlantic Ocean at Montauk, 1972 by Jonas Mekas for USD 358.50 (€ 297.96). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Jonas Mekas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cassis Summer, 1966 tiré du film 'Notes for Jerome No. 48' in May 2007 with an auction result of EUR 2,640.00.

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Juli 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Caroline Kennedy, Atlantic Ocean at Montauk, 1972 von Jonas Mekas für USD 358,50 (€ 297,96) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The House Sale bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600,00 – 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jonas Mekas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cassis Summer, 1966 tiré du film 'Notes for Jerome No. 48' im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 2.640,00.
