This artwork by John Young achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2010. In the The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House auction, the work St Brelade's Bay, Jersey sold for GBP 32,450.00 (€ 38,777.70) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Young; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot La Rocque, Jersey sold at auction in November 2010 with the realized price of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 41,645.70).
