Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Post-War British Art Day Sale, which included the work Estuary Window: September Afternoon - Girls by John Wonnacott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,933.39) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wonnacott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait With Electric Light Bulb in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 54,000.00 (€ 80,133.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Post-War British Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Estuary Window: September Afternoon - Girls von John Wonnacott zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.933,39) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Wonnacott erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self-Portrait With Electric Light Bulb im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 54.000,00 (€ 80.133,28).
