Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Study of the head of a young man, possibly for 'Narcissus' by John William Waterhouse. It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 83,556.65) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.603.750,00 (€ 10.467.756,68).
