Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work British Head Of A Model by John William Waterhouse. The price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 30,758.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).

Im Februar 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British Head Of A Model von John William Waterhouse zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 30.758,41) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John William Waterhouse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.603.750,00 (€ 10.467.756,68).
