Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Head Of A Model by John William Waterhouse for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,326.31). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
