This artwork by John William Waterhouse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2019. In the British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work A young Roman woman in a classical interior sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 11,665.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.603.750,00 (€ 10.467.756,68).
