It achieved a price of SEK 3,800,000.00 (€ 362,162.64), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 52%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Waterhouse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).

Die Arbeit "The Rescue" von John William Waterhouse wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Important Winter Sale bei Bukowski in Stockholm versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von SEK 3.800.000,00 (€ 362.162,64) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 52%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John William Waterhouse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.603.750,00 (€ 10.467.756,68).
