Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Isabella and the Pot of Basil by John William Waterhouse was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 1,157,000.00 (€ 1,291,034.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Admittedly, works by John William Waterhouse have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St Cecilia 'In a clear walled city on the sea, Near gilded organ pipes... ...slept St Cecily' in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,603,750.00 (€ 10,467,756.68).

Die Arbeit Isabella and the Pot of Basil von John William Waterhouse wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.157.000,00 (€ 1.291.034,33) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben worden.
