Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2004 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work The Setting Sun, Sydney Harbour by John William Ashton. The price achieved of AUD 4,780.00 (€ 2,774.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by John William Ashton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour in November 2000 with an auction result of AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 4.780,00 (€ 2.774,31) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden.
