Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Summer Reflection by John William Ashton was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in April 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 1,792.50 (€ 1,086.96). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John William Ashton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour in November 2000 with an auction result of AUD 32,900.00 (€ 19,912.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Summer Reflection von John William Ashton im April 2005 bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 1.792,50 (€ 1.086,96) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John William Ashton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Neutral Bay, Sydney Harbour im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 32.900,00 (€ 19.912,56).
