Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work American The Hunter by John Whorf for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,143.19). This price was achieved in the auction The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Whorf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Dunes in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit American The Hunter von John Whorf für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.143,19) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Whorf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On The Dunes im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69).
