Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunlight by John White Alexander was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 68,750.00 (€ 62,318.71). Admittedly, works by John White Alexander have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Ray Of Sunlight in October last year with an auction result of USD 403,200.00 (€ 405,878.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sunlight von John White Alexander im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 68.750,00 (€ 62.318,71) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John White Alexander auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Ray Of Sunlight im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 403.200,00 (€ 405.878,80).
