Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Alonzo Barton Hepburn by John White Alexander was sold in the American Art auction at Bonhams in New York in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of USD 828.75 (€ 734.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John White Alexander achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Ray Of Sunlight in October last year with an auction result of USD 403,200.00 (€ 405,878.80).
