Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Painting, 1947 by John Wells was sold in the Modern British Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in March 2021. The result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,494.85) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Wells - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Structure In Oval, which sold at auction in November 2012 for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 68,062.39).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Painting, 1947 von John Wells wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Modern British Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.494,85) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Wells mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Structure In Oval beobachtet, die im November 2012 für GBP 55.250,00 (€ 68.062,39) versteigert wurde.
