Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life With Fruit And Goldfish In A Bowl On A Ledge by John Wainwright was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,365.00 (€ 4,235.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wainwright achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, Lillies, Tulips, Poppies And Other Flowers In A Vase In A Classical Garden in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 44,400.00 (€ 65,803.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life With Fruit And Goldfish In A Bowl On A Ledge von John Wainwright im April 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.365,00 (€ 4.235,44) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Wainwright erzielen.
